Ontario is helping Canada’s largest fresh fruit and vegetable processor in turning the corner by expanding its business while creating 61 good jobs and supporting 20 existing positions, with a total of 150 people currently working at the facility.
Mississauga’s Pride Pak Canada Ltd. is doubling its production capacity by investing in new, more efficient, machinery and refrigeration technology. The new equipment will also increase the shelf-life of its fresh-cut produce, allowing the company to serve customers across North America.
"Mississauga has been home to Pride Pak since 1984 and we are pleased to be modernizing our operations to ensure the continued growth and profitability of the company," said Gary Turner, general manager of Pride Pak Canada. "The support from the Government of Ontario has been instrumental in moving forward with this project."
Partnering with local business is a key component of the plan laid out in Ontario’s 2011 budget to create and support 10,000 new and existing jobs.
