Halifax, NS — The Workers Compensation Board of Nova Scotia has planned a new advertising campaign to curb the rising cost of workplace accidents.

The ad campaign is expected to increase awareness of workplace safety and is hoped to reduce claims costs for the board, which in 2002 reached $122 million, up $3 million from the previous year.

The WCBNS averages 35,000 claims per year, of which about 9,000 involve lost-time injuries.
