Toronto, ON — Peter Helston stepped down from the position of publisher of Machinery & Equipment MRO magazine this week. He was the founding publisher, along with co-publisher Victor Zellermeyer, when the magazine was launched in December 1985.
The magazine is currently owned by the Business Information Group of Hollinger Canadian Newspapers L.P. The group remains one of the major Canadian holdings of publishing icon Conrad Black.
Helston left to explore other opportunities in the publishing industry, says Bill Roebuck, editor-in-chief. Roebuck is the founding editor of the magazine, having managed its editorial content since its inception over 18 years ago. He remains at his post, as does sales manager Gordon Kennedy.
“Despite this change at the helm, both readers and advertisers will see continuity and stability in MRO magazine,” says Roebuck. A new publisher is to be announced shortly.
“At Machinery & Equipment MRO, we’re in our 18th year of publishing a dynamic magazine for maintenance, repair and operations people in industry across Canada,” adds Roebuck. “We have and will continue to serve machinery and equipment builders and suppliers with solid, targetted products that readers pay attention to issue after issue.” The products include the magazine’s web site, www.mro-esource.com, which features MRO’s exclusive Product Locator Guide, as well as supplementary publications.
“We didn’t become an award-winning magazine by coincidence,” Roebuck notes. “It has been through hard work and dedication by a team of publishing experts with a clear knowledge of our market. Our team includes dedicated professionals in editorial, sales, management, circulation, printing, production, reader service and advertiser support.”
Machinery & Equipment MRO recently announced the creation of two new supplements — Canadian Electrical Equipment News (CEEN), which is currently being mailed along with the April issue of MRO, and Industrial Lubrication magazine, to be launched in June. Both also have Bill Roebuck in the editor’s chair and offer new, targetted and specific editorial and marketing environments.
“At Machinery & Equipment MRO, we clearly understand the machinery and equipment aftermarket — the jargon, the readers, the buyers and sellers, the whole team involved in maintenance, repair and operations functions in all of Canada’s broad-ranging industries,” says Kennedy.
“We’ve been a reliable resource to reach this dynamic market for 18 years, and we’re constantly improving to make sure we provide the vehicle for the success of readers and advertisers for the next 18, and beyond,” he says.
“We wish Peter Helston personal success in his future endeavours,” said Roebuck.
